๐ŸŒŸ Miracles System Overview

Miracles are the central gameplay mechanic of I Am Jesus Christ. There are over 30 unique miracles across four categories: Healing, Exorcism, Transformation, and Resurrection. Each category uses a distinct minigame mechanic and has different Faith requirements.

Miracles are triggered in one of three ways: (1) approaching an NPC with a glowing aura visible through Divine Vision, (2) story-scripted cinematic events during chapter objectives, or (3) discovering hidden NPCs revealed only by activating Divine Vision in specific locations. The third category includes all missable miracles.

Healing

Click-based skin lesion removal minigame. Each lesion type requires a specific interaction. 9 total healing miracles.

Faith cost: Low (5โ€“15%)

Exorcism

Stun the demon with Faith blasts, then drag it through the hell portal before it recovers. 6 exorcism encounters total.

Faith cost: High (15โ€“25% per stun)

Transformation

Cinematic interactions with timed hold/release mechanics. Most are story-critical and cannot be failed on first attempt.

Faith cost: Medium (20โ€“40%)

Resurrection

Guide a glowing soul through a spiritual realm corridor, blocking dark orbs, to the gates of heaven.

Faith cost: Very High (40โ€“60%)
โš ๏ธ MISSABLE MIRACLES: 3 miracles are permanently missable: the Legion Exorcism (Gerasa cliff tombs), Healing at Pool of Bethesda (Jerusalem), and Blind Bartimaeus Healing (Jericho road). See the missable content guide for exact locations and timing windows.

๐Ÿ™ Healing Miracles

Healing miracles use a click-based minigame where you must identify and interact with visible skin conditions, wounds, or afflictions on the NPC's body. Each condition type has a specific cursor action: left-click for surface wounds, hold for deep afflictions, and drag for limb conditions. The minigame ends when all conditions are cleared.

Healing Minigame โ€” Step by Step

  1. Approach the afflicted NPC and interact when the golden aura prompt appears
  2. The camera shifts to a close-up view of the afflicted area
  3. Glowing markers appear on each affliction point โ€” hover to see the required action
  4. Perform each required action in any order (order does not affect outcome)
  5. When all markers are cleared, a golden light burst signals completion
  6. The NPC responds with dialogue and your Follower counter increases

Cleanse the Lepers

Healing

Ten lepers stand outside Capernaum's gate, unable to enter the city. Activate Divine Vision to reveal their skin afflictions (glowing red patches). Approach each leper and hold LMB over each affliction point for 4โ€“6 seconds per sore. All 10 must be cleansed for the achievement. Each leper has 2โ€“4 affliction points.

Heal afflictions in a sweep from top to bottom on each NPC to avoid missing any point. The beam auto-locks when within 1.5 meters โ€” no need to be extremely precise.

๐Ÿ“– Luke 17:11-19

Restore Sight to the Blind

Healing

A blind beggar named Bartimaeus sits by the Jericho road in Chapter 4. Apply the mud-and-saliva interact sequence (press F, then apply to his eyes with LMB), then send him to wash in the Pool of Siloam nearby. He returns with restored sight. In Galilee, a second blind man can be found at the Bethsaida well.

The Pool of Siloam is marked with a blue quest marker after you apply the mud. Do not follow Bartimaeus โ€” wait in place and he returns in ~30 seconds.

๐Ÿ“– John 9:1-7, Mark 10:46-52

Heal the Paralyzed Man

Healing

Four friends lower a paralyzed man through a hole in the roof of a Capernaum house. Approach the mat and hold LMB over the paralysis affliction (covering his entire body โ€” the red glow is full-body rather than localized). Sustained beam for 8 seconds. This is the highest-energy healing miracle.

The healing beam must stay centered on the torso โ€” moving it to limbs during the sequence resets progress. Aim at his chest and hold steady.

๐Ÿ“– Mark 2:1-12

Cure Peter's Mother-in-Law

Healing

Inside Peter's house in Capernaum, his mother-in-law lies sick with fever. This is the simplest healing in the game โ€” approach her bed and press E to take her hand. A brief animation plays and the fever lifts. No energy cost.

This is a free narrative miracle โ€” do not skip it as it triggers Peter's first major loyalty dialogue, contributing +5 Followers.

๐Ÿ“– Matthew 8:14-15

Heal the Woman Who Touches the Cloak

Healing

In the Capernaum crowd, a woman with a 12-year bleeding condition reaches out to touch Jesus's cloak. A power-drain notification appears. Activate Divine Vision to find her in the crowd (she is highlighted gold). Speak to her to complete the miracle with a compassion dialogue choice.

This miracle happens automatically when you walk through the packed Capernaum crowd. Watch for the sudden energy drain alert. If you miss her in the crowd, she despawns when you leave the area.

๐Ÿ“– Mark 5:25-34

๐Ÿ‘ฟ Exorcism Miracles

Exorcism is the most mechanically complex miracle category. When you encounter a demon-possessed NPC, you must deplete the demon's resistance using Faith blasts, then physically drag the stunned demon to a glowing portal that opens in the ground. The portal stays open for approximately 8 seconds before the demon recovers.

Exorcism Mechanics โ€” Detailed Breakdown

Phase 1: Revealing the Demon

Activate Divine Vision while near the possessed NPC to reveal the demon's presence. The NPC will exhibit erratic behavior before the exorcism triggers. Interacting without Divine Vision active results in a failed prompt.

Phase 2: Stun with Faith Blasts

Hold the action button to charge a Faith blast, then release to fire it at the demon. Each blast costs ~15% Faith. Most demons require 3โ€“4 blasts to fully stun. The Legion encounter requires 6โ€“8 blasts โ€” enter with full Faith.

Phase 3: Drag to Portal

When the demon is stunned (glowing gold), hold the grab action and drag it toward the hell portal that opens in the ground or wall. You have approximately 8 seconds before the demon recovers and you must stun again.

Phase 4: Portal Closing

Once the demon enters the portal, it closes permanently and the NPC is restored. You receive Follower points scaled to crowd size. The Legion exorcism grants the most โ€” performed near a large crowd for maximum impact.

Exorcise the Demon in the Synagogue

Exorcism

During a Capernaum synagogue scene, a man possessed by an unclean spirit cries out. Stun the demon with Holy Light (RMB beam, ~3 seconds), then drag it to the Hell Portal that opens beneath the synagogue platform. The portal closes after 5 seconds.

This is the tutorial exorcism โ€” the portal stays open longer here (8 seconds instead of 5). Use it to practice the stun-drag sequence before the harder encounters.

๐Ÿ“– Mark 1:23-26

Cast Out Legion

Exorcism

At the cliff tombs near Gerasa, a man possessed by a legion of demons confronts Jesus. He splits into 5 simultaneous demons. Each must be stunned individually (3โ€“4 seconds each with RMB) and dragged into one of 3 Hell Portals on the ground. Stunned demons stay stunned for ~8 seconds โ€” drag quickly. Once all 5 are cast out, they enter the nearby pigs, who run off the cliff.

Handle the 2 smallest demons (low health bars) first as they stun fastest. The large demon (center) requires 6 seconds of sustained Holy Light. Save full energy specifically for this encounter โ€” it costs approximately 70% of your total bar.

๐Ÿ“– Mark 5:1-20

Heal the Mute Man (Demon Exorcism)

Exorcism

A man who cannot speak is brought to Jesus in the Magdala market. Divine Vision reveals a small darkness spirit lodged in his throat (shown as a dark mass at the neck). Stun it with a focused RMB beam, then drag it to the Hell Portal.

The portal spawns directly to the character's right. Position Jesus on the left side of the NPC before stunning so the drag path is as short as possible.

๐Ÿ“– Matthew 9:32-33

๐Ÿ”„ Transformation Miracles

Transformation miracles are primarily story-driven events where Jesus transforms objects, elements, or situations through divine intervention. These are the most cinematically spectacular miracles and are heavily integrated into chapter narratives. Most transformations use a hold-and-release timing mechanic โ€” hold the action button until the golden ring completes its full rotation, then release.

Walking on Water โ€” Special Mechanics

Walking on Water is the only transformation miracle with ongoing player agency. You walk across the Sea of Galilee in real time โ€” Faith drains continuously during this sequence. If Faith drops to zero, Jesus begins to sink and a rescue sequence triggers. Maintain at least 25% Faith at all times by pacing your movement and avoiding unnecessary Divine Vision toggling during the crossing.

Turn Water into Wine

Transformation

At a wedding in Cana at Mary's request, Jesus asks servants to fill six stone water jars. Walk to each jar (6 total) and press E to bless each one. After all six are blessed, the water transforms to wine. The steward's reaction triggers a short cutscene.

Free miracle โ€” no energy cost. Do not skip the post-miracle dialogue with Mary for extra Follower gains.

๐Ÿ“– John 2:1-11

Feed the 5,000

Transformation

On the east bank of the Sea of Galilee, 5,000 people have gathered. Walk through the crowd and press F near each of 5 crowd sections to distribute the multiplied loaves and fish. The food visually replicates in your hands with each distribution. All 5 sections must be visited for the achievement.

The crowd is divided into clearly distinct clusters. Look for the golden distribution markers above each group. Move methodically from the front of the crowd to the back.

๐Ÿ“– John 6:1-14

Calm the Storm

Transformation

On the Sea of Galilee at night, a storm arises while Jesus sleeps in the boat. The disciples wake him. Stand at the bow of the boat and face the storm. A 3-button QTE appears: Space (rebuke the wind), E (rebuke the waves), F (command peace). Press each in sequence with a 2-second window each.

The QTE buttons are always the same order: Space โ†’ E โ†’ F. Memorize this sequence before the event triggers.

๐Ÿ“– Matthew 8:23-27

Walk on Water

Transformation

After Calm the Storm, Jesus sees Peter struggling in the waves. Walk off the bow of the boat onto the water surface. A Faith balance meter appears at the screen center โ€” maintain it in the white zone by walking slowly. The crossing is approximately 90 seconds. Peter will begin to sink partway through โ€” extend your hand (hold E) to pull him up.

DO NOT press the sprint key at any point during the crossing. Walking pace only. If the balance meter enters the red zone, slow down further โ€” it recovers in 2โ€“3 seconds. Peter sinking is scripted โ€” just hold E when prompted.

๐Ÿ“– Matthew 14:22-33

Miraculous Catch of Fish

Transformation

At the Sea of Galilee, Simon Peter has fished all night with no success. Jesus tells him to cast the nets on the right side of the boat. Interact with the fishing net (hold F for 3 seconds to bless it), then watch as the net fills with 153 fish. This is the first miracle of Chapter 3.

The 153 fish count is historically significant (John 21). The miracle triggers the first disciple recruitment dialogue immediately after.

๐Ÿ“– Luke 5:1-11

The Transfiguration

Transformation

On Mount Tabor in Chapter 4, Jesus ascends with Peter, James, and John. At the summit, Jesus's appearance transforms โ€” his face shines like the sun and his clothes become white as light. Moses and Elijah appear. This is a fully cinematic event requiring no player input. A divine voice speaks.

Cinematic only โ€” sit back and enjoy. This scene significantly boosts Faith to the maximum value needed for the Legion exorcism if you somehow missed it.

๐Ÿ“– Matthew 17:1-9

๐Ÿ’€ Resurrection Miracles

Resurrection is the rarest and most Faith-intensive miracle category. When performing a resurrection, the game enters a spirit realm sequence: you guide the deceased's glowing soul along a path of light toward the gates of heaven, while dark orbs attempt to intercept and capture the soul. Use targeted Faith pulses to deflect dark orbs โ€” each pulse costs approximately 10% Faith. The soul must reach the golden gates within the time limit.

Raising Lazarus โ€” The Most Complex Resurrection

Raising Lazarus (Chapter 4) is the longest and most mechanically demanding resurrection sequence. The soul path has three branching sections where you choose the route โ€” always take the path with the fewest dark orbs, not necessarily the shortest. The "Lazarus" achievement requires completing this miracle with Faith above 30% at completion. Visit both nearby Prayer Spots before starting this sequence.

Raise Jairus's Daughter

Resurrection

Jairus, a synagogue leader in Capernaum, begs Jesus to heal his dying daughter. By the time Jesus arrives, she has died. Enter the house and go to her room. The resurrection minigame begins with 1 shadow tendril. Guide the soul orb upward to the heavenly portal.

This is the easiest resurrection โ€” treat it as a tutorial for the mechanic. The single tendril moves slowly and predictably in a clockwise circle.

๐Ÿ“– Mark 5:35-43

Raise the Widow's Son at Nain

Resurrection

On the road to Nain, Jesus encounters a funeral procession. A widow's only son has died. Touch the coffin to trigger the resurrection minigame with 2 shadow tendrils. Tendrils approach from opposite sides โ€” move the soul through the gap between them diagonally.

Two tendrils create a converging pincer. Move diagonally upward-right to thread between them when they are at maximum separation.

๐Ÿ“– Luke 7:11-17

Raise Lazarus

Resurrection

Lazarus of Bethany, the brother of Mary and Martha, has been dead for 4 days when Jesus arrives. Enter the tomb and call 'Lazarus, come forth!' The resurrection minigame triggers with 3 shadow tendrils โ€” the hardest pre-final resurrection. Tendrils spawn in a triangular formation and slowly converge.

Three tendrils in a triangle create a shrinking safe zone at the center. Move the soul in a tight upward spiral through the contracting center gap. The portal is directly above โ€” do not deviate left or right. Energy cost: ~45% Holy Spirit bar.

๐Ÿ“– John 11:1-44
